I love teaching music lessons
I've spent time remodeling houses, buying houses nation wide (even featured on ABC Nightline), doing house additions, and installing house alarms. There is no comparison. I would rather be with my students any day of the week.
I have the best music students any teacher could ask for.
"I can't do your pushups for you" Growth is something that you can only do for yourself. Books, tapes, seminars, private lessons, and master classes do not make you a better musician. Nothing happens until you practice. This is why I incorporate a little bit of personal practice time for you in every lesson :)
If you are having trouble getting your younger ones to practice at home, be sure their practicing is for a result and not a time limit. Younger minds don't have a clear grasp of how long 15 minutes is. But they do understand "play the first line 7 times really well." To up the ante you could say "play the first line 3 times perfect in a row." If the student is younger than 7 this technique works really well. It gives them a clear goal that they understand. This motivation usually makes them practice even more!
Let me know how it is working for you :)
