All you have to do is practice to win

That's right.  No audition, no performance jitters, no pressure.  All you have to do is practice the most to win.  And you will know exactly how much to practice every week.  This is not like a chair test or an All Region audition where you can practice for months and not have a clue whether you stand a chance.  In the practice challenge you will know every week exactly where you stand and exactly what you have to do to win.  It couldn't be easier.

Plus, your class will also win an award for having the highest practice average.  Pretty cool huh!  Yep, the class with the highest average gets to take possession of the Woodshed Award.  That means braggin' rights for a whole year.  Fair and Square.  There is so much smack going around about why the band students are better than the choir students.  Look, you and I both know who the better musicians really are.  And, now its time to make it official.

All practice time is documented

Everyone will be documenting their practice time the same way - with a digital voice recorder.  When you sign up I will mail you a small digital voice recorder that you will use to record all of your practice sessions.

Every week when you come online to enter your practice time you will also be uploading your recorded practice sessions for that week.  Everything is on the up and up.

Practice Challenge DVR

Registration ends 2/12, Competition begins 3/20, $39 Entry Fee

This opportunity won't last forever.  The registration window will close on February 12th.  There will be a 5 week space in between the end of the registration and the beginning of the competition. During this time you will be mailed your digital voice recorders and given time to get used to working them.  There will be some tutorial videos online to help you  out.

Competition will begin March 20th and run through April 30th.  That is 6 weeks but I want you to take Spring Break with your school so only 5 of the 6 weeks will count towards the challenge.  Relax! Take some time off.

Winning times verified by an independent panel of experts

The highest practice times are audited by an independent panel of experts.  The panel is composed of 2 musicians who do not have students competing, 1 recording engineer, and one Intel programmer.  The panel will be using proprietary software to verify the truthfulness of the recordings.
